2001 |
After working hard to renovate and preserve the history of our new home, we were able to relocate to our new building in February of 2001. |
 |
1999 |
By 1999 we were able to purchase our first permanent facility. |
1996 |
we received our first county grant for our Smart Women's Program, established a computer lab on-site and offered weekly classes. We opened the Career Closet on-site and offered business clothing that was donated by the women in our community. |
1992 |
Southeast Bank/Downtown donated office space to the Women's Resource Center and thus began the referral aspect of the agency. After hundreds of referrals, WRC moved into a small rental house on 55 th Ave. W , and we began offering on-site counseling, client assistance, job club and seminars. |
1990 |
A group of local Manatee County business women along with AAUW and Altrusa introduced the concept of a Women's Resource Center in Manatee County . The idea was to help women who did not qualify for assistance, but did not make enough money to support themselves. In the spring of 1990, a Charter Member Luncheon was held with over 400 women in attendance in support of the Center. |
